Match Review Piala FA RO16 (2) | Selangor FC 9-0 Malaysian University FT (Agg. 12-1) | Qualified for the FA Cup Quarter-Finals

The Red Giants qualified for the 2025/26 FA Cup Quarter-Finals after defeating Malaysian University FT 9-0 in the second leg of the Round of 16 with an aggregate score of 12-1 at the MBPJ Stadium yesterday.

With two goals in hand, Selangor FC started the match with full confidence, pushing forward continuously. Kevin Deeromram put the Red Giants in front after heading in Faisal Halim's corner kick in the 12th minute. Then, in the 21st minute, Quentin Cheng slotted home after receiving a cut-back pass from Chrigor Moraes. Not content with just providing an assist, it was Moraes’ turn to score the Reds' third goal in the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time, finishing a pass from Deeromram on the left side of the field before the break.

Four minutes after the second half began, Deeromram scored again, this time from outside the box after receiving a pass from Alvin Fortes. In the 55th minute, Fortes also made his name on the #SFCMUN scoresheet. Zach Clough then scored his first goal for the Red Giants in the 72nd minute. Next, Moraes completed his hat-trick with goals in the 76th and 81st minutes. The final goal of the match came from Zikri Khalili in stoppage time, making 9-0 the biggest win in Selangor's FA Cup history.

According to Selangor FC Head Coach, Katsuhito Kinoshi, he was pleased with the performance displayed by his players, particularly their mentality and hunger to win.

“The players have shown a proud mentality and strong determination to achieve this 9-0 victory. They also clearly understood the tactics we wanted, and that was evident in their performance. In addition, I was able to bring on Sikh Izhan, the team's third goalkeeper, meaning that almost all the players in the squad were given minutes. I am very happy with yesterday's result, but we have many matches ahead. On Monday, the team will return to training to maintain the same winning mentality,” explained Kinoshi.

From yesterday's #SFCMUN match, some important things can be seen, such as:-:

  • Yesterday's 9-0 victory was Selangor's biggest win in 156 FA Cup matches since the competition was introduced in 1990. Previously, the team’s record was a 6-0 win against Harini FT in the 2022 FA Cup.
  • Chrigor Moraes, the new import striker for the 2025/26 season, scored his second consecutive hat-trick for Selangor FC. He also registered three assists for goals scored by Quentin Cheng (21’), Alvin Fortes (55’) and Zach Clough (72’). So far, Moraes has scored eight goals in seven matches.
  • Kevin Deeromram was equally impressive, bringing his tally to six goals this season. He was also the first player to score for the Red and Yellow squad this season, against DPMM FC.
  • Zach Clough, one of the Red Giants’ new signings, opened his scoring account in the 72nd minute, just minutes after replacing Fortes in the 64th.
  • Next, Selangor FC will open their Group G campaign in the AFC Champions League Two against Bangkok United FC, one of Thailand’s biggest clubs, on 21 November 2025 at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya.

The management would also like to thank the 2,392 fans who attended the MBPJ Stadium yesterday for their support and trust.

Demi Kebanggaan!
